Logging text messages
SMS communications can be captured in Navigator alongside emails and phone calls. This gives your team a complete communication record, and lets SMS messages be linked to tasks like any other communication type.
How text messages are captured
SMS messages are captured automatically via Navigator's SMS provider integration. Once your account's sender number is set up, messages flow in without manual action.
| Field | What it records |
|---|---|
| From | Sender's phone number |
| To | Recipient's phone number |
| Body | Full message content |
| Delivery status | Delivered, pending, or rejected |
| Delivered at | Confirmation timestamp |
Message delivery status
- Pending — sent but delivery not confirmed
- Delivered — successfully delivered
- Rejected — failed (invalid number, carrier rejection)
If rejected, follow up through another channel.
Linking a message to a task
Text messages can be linked to tasks, giving team members the full context. When a task is created from a text message, the SMS record is attached and visible in the task detail view.
Communications tagged with sms indicate the task or email originated from or relates to a text message interaction.
Related: SMS is also used for invoice approvals via SMS. When a customer or contact replies YES or NO to an approval request, Navigator processes the reply automatically and creates a task tagged SMS.
